Question: Why Atreya?
Atreya:
Atreya originated from Atreyu, the name of the main character of the Hollywood movie: “The Never Ending Story” based on the fantasy book of Michael Ende (1979). When I was a child this movie touched me deeply and I simply changed the letter “U” into an “A” to give the name a more feminine touch and to this day Atreya continues to inspire and represent me.

Question: This is your comeback...
Atreya:
After years of denying my musical ambition and perceiving its manifestation as the unreal dream I was chasing, I came to the conclusion that music is indeed my life. Music is the only thing that can satisfy me and create for me profound long-lasting happiness.
From now on, no matter what happens, I will keep trying to sing and stay closer to the present and myself.

Question: What is your goal in life?
Atreya:
My goal is to reach as many people as possible with my songs, thus interchanging feelings between my audience and myself. By doing what I really want to do with my life, I hope to leave an emotional imprint on the soul of my fans.

Question: Why this noble project?
Atreya:
I see Project Aware! and the launch of the fundraising CD-single Aware! as a noble project because I feel it as my task to also use my voice as an instrument to help those in need; thus creating an awareness among numerous individuals around the world.

Question: You have an accent, you are Spanish, right?
Atreya:
Yes, I am of Spanish origin. I have lived in Barcelona for more than fifteen years.
I am proud of my Latin accent, I consider it a charming characteristic of my personality and likewise of my Spanish temperament. *Smile*

Question: What is your favorite drink?
Atreya:
My favorite drink is without doubt plain water and if you mean alcoholic drinks, then the answer is: champagne, Spanish sangria, Bacardi Breezer.

Question: Do you like sports?
Atreya:
Not to watch on television, but I like to exercise and keep my body in top physical condition. Sports like scuba diving, ice- and roller-skating are fun for me.

Question: Have you ever used drugs?
Atreya:
Yes, I will be honest with you. I did experiment a little with some drugs, I believe you always have to define for yourself whether something is or is not beneficial for you and that is possible by personal experience only. I learned from this and concluded that I don't need drugs. My music is my drug!

Question: What made you write the song Aware!
Atreya:
I composed the fundraising single Aware! right after my journey to Nepal and the Northern part of India and I was inspired by the warmth and perseverance of the Tibetans in exile, as a stark contrast with the misery of the oppression in Tibet.

Question: Do you have some final words?
Atreya:
A last message to everybody out there... Hmmm, let me think:
Stop finding excuses for not doing what you really want to do. Instead of merely understanding or talking about your way of life, practice it and apply that knowledge on an every day basis.
